The Godfather is an American film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It tells the story of the Corleone family, an Italian mafia family in New York. The film is unanimously considered one of the greatest feature films of all time. Sometimes violent, always moving, it won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Marlon Brando and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film was also gains a commercial success, grossing over €230 million at the worldwide box office.

Seven Samurai (1954, Japan)

Seven Samurai is a Japanese film directed by Akira Kurosawa. It is also considered one of the greatest films of all time and probably the most respected Japanese film by film buffs. The film tells the story of a group of seven samurai who are hired by a village to defend their land against bandits. It is set in the 16th century. Kurosawa wanted to take care of the music in his films. For this one, he collaborated with the composer Fumio Hayasaka, who was his best friend at the time.

Considered one of the best sci-fi films of all time, ‘Alien’ is a milestone in the history of cinema and gave rise to an audiovisual franchise that continues to this day. In the plot, a spaceship receives strange signals coming from an asteroid. While investigating the location, one of the crew members is attacked by a strange being. What seemed to be an isolated attack turns into constant terror, as the attacked crew member took an alien embryo into the ship, which does not stop growing and aims to kill the entire crew.

‘Arrival’ is one of the best alien movies of the century – and it remains underrated even seven years after its official release. Focusing on themes such as family, language and the ephemerality of time itself, the plot follows interplanetary beings that leave marks on Earth and that lead Dr. Louise Banks, a linguist specializing in the subject, to be sought out by the military to translate the signals and discover whether the aliens pose a threat or not. However, the answer to all the questions and mysteries could threaten Louise’s life and the existence of all humanity. In the plot, Earth receives a strange alien ship that emits a language that is almost indecipherable to humans. Dr. Louise Banks (Adams), a linguistics expert, is asked to read the codes together with physicist Ian Donnelly (Renner). Over the course of the days, however, the girl discovers that the signals emitted by the alien ship may be related to her own life.

Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption features a relentless duo in the cast. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman makes the film unmissable with an engaging and exciting plot. This film is Considered one of the best films of all time, it received seven Oscar nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. Need I say more? In 1946, Andy Dufresne (Robbins), a young and successful banker whose life radically changed when he is convicted of a crime, the murder of his wife and her lover, which he never committed. He is sent to a prison (Shawshank State Penitentiary in Maine) that is every inmate’s nightmare. There he will serve a life sentence. Andy is soon introduced to Warden Norton ( Bob Gunton ), the corrupt and cruel prison guard, who uses the Bible as a weapon of control, and to Captain Byron Hadley ( Clancy Brown ) who treats the inmates like animals. Andy befriends Ellis Boyd Redding (Freeman), a prisoner who has been serving time for 20 years and controls the institution’s black market.

Fight Club

The film is a critical reflection on the control of emotions and violence. In the plot, the characters form a secret fighting group and gather several people to engage in physical duels. As the groups grow, violence increases and becomes uncontrolled on the city streets.
A success in the late 90s, Fight Club stood out as a great film and made an impact on the cultural scene. Here we see Jack, a young executive who lives in a comfortable house, but is dissatisfied and depressed, as he sees no purpose in life. Until he meets Tyler Durden, a mysterious guy who introduces him to Fight Club, a place where men face each other in street fights to vent their frustrations.
