What are the most interesting extraterrestrial creatures from films or series from an artistic or biological point?

The Weeping Angels in Doctor Who.

At first glance, it just looks like a stone angel statue.. cute right?

Well first of all, these angels are aliens from one of the oldest races in the universe and there is a very good reason for that.

In fact, we don’t really know what they look like. Similar to how a hedgehog curls into a ball when in danger, Weeping Angels have a defense mechanism that instantly turns them into stone statues the moment someone looks at them.

A defensive mechanism so effective that they have been able to survive for billions of years.

But the scariest part of all this is that these angels will try to touch you. Touching you to send you back hundreds of years in the past and thus cause a temporal flow from which they feed. Look at them and they won’t move but blink, and they will move several meters!!!

The most effective way to stop them is to trick them into staring at each other. Thus, they will be condemned to be nothing but stone for eternity.

This is also why they hide their eyes with their hands most of the time; so as not to risk looking at each other 😉
